We put the MP Motorsport teammates to the test with Richard Verschoor and Oliver Goethe finding out just how well they know one another.
From embarrassing moments to best qualities, here is how the MP duo got on…
Richard Verschoor: “He’s very funny. We get along well as teammates.”
Oliver Goethe: “I mean he’s alright.”
Verschoor: “Ollie is a very nice guy.”
Goethe: “No we get along very well.”
Verschoor: “I think we get along very well as teammates.”
Goethe: “Richard’s a funny guy. A little bit worse than me at padel, but we have a good game. We have a good relationship in terms of – “
Verschoor: “Romantically?”
Goethe: “Haha! I was going to say competitive and healthy.”
Goethe: “Richard is smart, very good in the races. I’d say that’s his best racing quality.”
Verschoor: “Ollie has natural speed.
Verschoor: “Ollie? He’d own a few restaurants and before any dishes went out, he’d try them!”
Goethe: “I’m a picky eater.”
Verschoor: “You’re not a picky eater at all!”
Goethe: “Richard would be a comedian. He’s quite outgoing.”
Goethe: “I think we’re both funny. We have similar humour, so that’s good.”
Goethe: “We went out for dinner in Jeddah and Richard told the waiter it was my birthday – “
Verschoor: “Oh yeah! Normally you’d get a cake or something if it's your birthday, you order a cake for someone. But every night we went there and we had dynamite shrimp. It was like our favourite. But he always wanted to order two and I always want to order one just as a starter. “So we act like it's his birthday, get dynamite shrimp, we put the candle, in and all the waiters were all singing. He was very embarrassed.”
Goethe: “We definitely had a good meal in the end, but it was definitely embarrassing.”
Goethe: “He’s got the height which I think counts for a lot nowadays.”
Verschoor: “I don’t know a lot, so I think it’s you.”
Goethe: “I think it’s you. You have a good understanding of mechanical knowledge.”
Verschoor: “Yeah that’s true but if you asked me about what engine was in what car, I wouldn’t know.”
Goethe: “Me neither, so maybe we’re quite similar.”
Verschoor: “I’m quick at replying.”
Goethe: “Yeah I’ll concede on that one. That’ll be me.”
Verschoor: “We’re not on the phone that much, especially on a race weekend.”
Verschoor: "I think you can learn from any teammate, their different qualities. Sometimes he’s very quick and I learn from that, sometimes it’s the other way around. It’s good to have a teammate that’s quick and you can learn from each other every weekend because there’s always a corner where they’re quicker than you.”
Goethe: “Are you saying I’m quick?”
Goethe: “Are you even in the sim?”
Verschoor: “I think you more because you’re doing sim with Red Bull.”
Goethe: “Yeah probably me a bit more. We do some together with the team, but I also do quite a lot of sim with Red Bull.”
Verschoor: “I haven’t been to the gym lately, so maybe you there as well.”
Goethe: “I think maybe you, but I like running.”
Verschoor: “You probably.”
Goethe: “But he’s left-handed, so if it was left hands, probably him.”
