Campos Racing enter the 2026 campaign with high hopes after their recent form in the Championship. The past two years have brought title challenges, and they remain at the sharp end of the Formula 2 grid.
Eponymous Team Principal Adrian Campos believes that there’s no reason for that to change in 2026, as they enter the new season with two new drivers: Nikola Tsolov and Noel León.
After three days of testing, Campos gave his thoughts on the upcoming campaign and just how the team had fared across the Barcelona event.
“It has been quite productive,” he said. “If there is something to say that could have gone better, it's a shame that there were a few test items that we couldn't do yesterday because of the off for Noel, but these things happen.
“In the end the drivers need to push hard to be quick, so they take risks and these things sometimes happen, so luckily we put the car together again for the afternoon and then we complete the run plan in the afternoon.”
León began his Campos 2026 campaign in the strongest possible way, topping Day 1 with the fastest time.
He endured a setback on the second day, but Campos says the Mexican driver more than made up for that before the end, with those early errors expected as he gets up to speed with life in F2.
“We were able to do some extra mileage on the last day to compensate for Day 2’s setback.
“Noel is very comfortable, he still has very low experience with the Formula 2 car, but he's getting used to it and he's getting quicker and quicker and happy with the team and how the car behaves for his driving style.”
On the other side of the garage, Tsolov arrives in F2 after contending for the F3 crown last year, and he carries on with Campos after that success.
The Bulgarian driver’s familiarity with the team and continuity with the Spanish outfit bodes well for the 2026 season says the Team Principal.
“Nikola has been in the Campos family since Formula 4, there was a little break in the middle, but he's more part of the family and it's been very easy, his transition from Formula 3 to Formula 2.
“The way of working is the same and the people, he knows the people from the workshop, so he's very comfortable and very confident for the season ahead.
With testing in the books, attentions now turn to the opening round of the campaign in Melbourne.
Having achieved victory around Albert Park in the past, Campos says that hopes and expectations are high going into Round 1, and the season beyond.
“Confidence is very high, yes, we have very high hopes. In these last two years, we have been fighting for wins every race weekend, so that's the only thing that we can think about for Melbourne.”
