Since the introduction of the new Formula 2 car in 2024, Campos Racing have been incredibly strong, finishing second in the Teams’ Standings that year and third in 2025.

The Spanish outfit also came close to winning their first Drivers’ Championship with Isack Hadjar in 2024, while Josep María Martí and Arvid Lindblad were multiple-time race winners last year.

But 2026 sees them veer of course a little bit, as for the first time ever in F2, they bring to the grid an all-rookie lineup in Nikola Tsolov and Noel León.

BUILDING ON THE LAST TWO YEARS

Campos have proven to be one of the stronger teams in the field in this new generation of car, pushing Invicta Racing close in both their title-winning campaigns.

In 2025, both Martí and Lindblad were consistent fixtures in the top 10, winning three races each, with the latter claiming victory in the Barcelona Feature Race from pole.

However, both drivers could not quite mount the title challenge they would have wanted, as on separate occasions, they went on runs of form where they did not score points.

Martí, for instance, went five races without scoring between Imola and Barcelona, while Lindblad did not score in six out of seven events from Spielberg to Budapest.

Looking back, these all happened for separate reasons, but when Campos did their review of the year, they would have acknowledged that runs of results such as those will have prevented them from getting closer to both titles.

So the Spanish team will definitely be looking at ways to be more consistent throughout the year, and that starts with their driver lineup.

ONE FAMILIAR FACE JOINS A NEWBIE

In Tsolov, Campos know what they are getting. The Bulgarian driver has raced for them before, first in 2022, when they won the Spanish F4 Championship together.

They joined forces once again in 2025 in FIA Formula 3, and they were strong throughout, with Tsolov winning two races and achieving six podiums in total. He finished second in the Drivers’ Standings, and helping Campos claim their first ever Teams’ Title.

The Red Bull Junior Team member then stepped up to Formula 2 for the last two rounds of the 2025 campaign with Campos and was impressive.

A tussle for a place on the podium in his debut Sprint Race in Lusail with Rafael Villagómez dropped him down to P10, but he responded the next week with a run to P3 in the same Saturday event at Yas Marina.

Tsolov then got three days of post-season testing with León at the same Abu Dhabi venue, and he would have learned a lot, giving him a good foundation to build on ahead of his first full campaign in 2026.

León will feel the same after his test, having gotten a feel for the Formula 2 car in both low fuel runs and race simulations.

The Mexican driver steps up to F2 after a season where he struggled to get consistent results in FIA Formula 3, but did achieve two Feature Race podiums at Silverstone and Monza.

But León did show consistency in his rookie campaign, as in the final seven rounds of his rookie year in 2024, he scored points in 11 of the 14 races, taking four podiums.

That is the sort of form that both León and Campos will hope he can replicate in 2026, because he and Tsolov will have a huge part to play if they are to capture their maiden Teams’ and Drivers’ Championships.
