Aerospace, golf and food: Dino Beganovic’s Hometown Tour

Dino Beganovic is the latest driver that we have tasked with giving us a tour of their hometown, and the Hitech TGR talent gives us the lowdown on everything we need to know about Linköping.

Starting out with the largest aerospace manufacturer in the world, to local country club, the Swede tell us all...

“I am from Sweden, a city called Linköping. It's not the biggest city, it's the fifth biggest in Sweden, which doesn't say much as there are not many big cities in Sweden apart from Stockholm and Gothenburg.

“But it's actually quite an interesting city. We have one of the biggest aerospace manufacturers in the world, Saab, which is quite cool. They did cars before but they do planes, aircrafts, military crafts for a really long time.

“So, when I was going to school, you could hear them practicing in the air which was quite cool. So, every Monday or Wednesday they were doing it after lunch, and that was quite cool.

“There is also a big university, one of the biggest in Sweden, so a lot of students go there to study, other than that there is not much else going on.

“When I was a kid, staying at home, on the weekends I was mainly karting. From a young age I was karting in Sweden, basically every weekend I was at a karting track.

“At an older age, I was still karting on the weekend but in Italy, so the weekends I was not doing much at home. These days, I am mainly with friends, nowadays I really like playing golf and playing padel with my friends there, that's mainly what we do.

“We also go out to nice restaurants, but I'm very used to Italian food. It's still Italian food when I get home, but it doesn't beat the proper Italian in Italy.

“Other than that, I really like Asian cuisine, which they do really well in Sweden actually, I need to say that, and that's what I try to do when I am home, and obviously mum's food is the best.

“I wasn't a very big golfer before, it's just been the last two years ago and I have really got stuck into it, and now I've become obsessed with golf. My YouTube videos are only golf, I just can't get enough of it.

“It's really nice because you can see your progress in it as well, if you are progressing, but I really like it and I do it a lot with James Wharton during the weekends, so that's nice.

“We have one very nice country club there, with two 18-hole courses, so there is always a lot of options. But at the same time, you really need to book in advance because it's really popular in my town for some reason.

“As soon as I go to my girlfriend’s town, it's not the same, so I am a bit unlucky in that case. You really need to book in advance and planning for me, something can come up one day and then you need to do it.

“There is an aerospace museum that I would recommend visiting, that's something very cool people should see. We went on a school trip there, so that's one thing you should do.

“Other than that, if you like playing golf, play a lot of golf, visit the town centre, it isn't super big, but if you do go, not only there but Sweden in general, go in the summer, not the winter.”
