Oliver Bearman is set to make his Formula 1 race weekend debut with MoneyGram Haas F1 Team at the Mexico City and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix.
The PREMA Racing driver moved up to Formula 2 for 2023 and has been hugely impressive since joining the Championship. The Briton has achieved four race victories already this year along with two pole positions and a further podium finish. He also achieved an historic weekend sweep at Round 4 in Baku, finishing P1 in every single session that weekend.
Currently sixth in the Drivers’ Championship and competing for top rookie honours, Bearman will get the chance to make his F1 bow officially, driving for the Haas team in Mexico and the United Arab Emirates in Free Practice 1.
“I am so happy to be joining MoneyGram Haas F1 Team driving in Mexico and Abu Dhabi,” Bearman said. “Getting to Formula 1 has been my dream since I was go-karting so to be driving a car for the first time this year is really special. I’m grateful to the team, and of course Ferrari, for allowing me this chance. I’m working hard to make sure I’m ready to support the team as best I can on both occasions.”
Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner added that his performances in F2 this season had been stellar and that the team was looking forward to working with the Briton later this year.
“We’re very happy to offer Oliver Bearman these outings in Mexico and Abu Dhabi. He’s had a stellar rookie season in Formula 2, four wins is testament to that, and as part of the Ferrari Driver Academy – we know his background preparation coming into these weekends will be first-rate. We look forward to welcoming Oliver into the team and have him drive the VF-23.”
Bearman will be with the team for this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix at the Lusail International Circuit as part of his preparations for the sessions.
The Mexico City Grand Prix kicks off on Friday, October 27th while the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will begin on Friday, November 24th.
