Rodin Motorsport became the first team to secure a 1-2 finish in the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season in Montreal, a superb result for the team.

Rookie Martinius Stenshorne claimed his maiden victory in the Championship, while teammate Alexander Dunne came from sixth on the grid to finish P2 on the podium, capping off a successful weekend for the team.

Speaking in the paddock afterwards, Sporting Director Benn Huntingford said the result was sweet, especially after the tough results of the opening few rounds.

“Really pleased with that one after the last couple of rounds where not everything went our way or how we wanted it too,” he said.

“We've actually been unfortunate to have two double DNFs in the first two rounds, so to turn that round into a double podium is really good.”

Huntingford also heaped praise upon his drivers after both were able to keep out of trouble in a tricky Sunday race that saw multiple rivals hit trouble in some fashion.

The Rodin teammates were able to clear traffic at crucial moments and even in the face of a setback, rebound to secure the podium result.

“First of all, Martinius, he's done a great job all weekend. He was fast in Qualifying and in the Sprint Race. Coming from where he did, he had to work really hard for his podium there.

“He's had good pace all weekend and then the race just panned out well. It was fortunate with the Safety Car timing, we managed to get through the pit stops, get them both in and out in good time. He made some good overtakes for the win.

“For Alex it's always difficult when you've got to stop both drivers and when the Safety Car opportunity comes, there's not much you can do other than stack them up in the pits. Which inevitably takes a little bit longer for one of the drivers.

“But it was still better than stopping under the green flag. In the end, Alex was still in a reasonable position and was able to make his way forward as well.”

Overall, Montreal proved that Rodin’s early season pace was accurate, and the team secured a huge points haul to move into the top three of the Teams’ Standings, just three points shy of Campos Racing in P2.

Huntingford says it was a gratifying weekend to show that their speed could carry through into the Feature Race to secure a good points score while rivals hit trouble.

“It's good. Alex is in his second year, so he's quite an experienced driver now. And Martinius has come in and got up to speed really quickly.

“The Qualifying pace has been brilliant from the start of the season. The calendar has been a bit disrupted up until now. So, it'll be nice to get back onto the European circuits and see if we can win some more there.”
