Without a win so far in 2021, Jehan Daruvala’s season hasn’t gone quite as well as he’d have hoped so far. The Carlin racer does have two podiums to show for his efforts and sits ninth in the standings. But how would he grade his own performances?

The Red Bull junior fills out his mid-season report card…

NAME: Jehan Daruvala TEAM: Carlin AGE: 22 PODIUMS: 2 WINS: 0

RATING OUT OF 10: 6

“I'm quite hard on myself, so it's obviously not been as good as I wanted it to have been so that's why I would rate it a six.”

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE SEASON SO FAR?

“My thoughts on the season so far, obviously, it's not been as good as I would have liked it to gone, but it is what it is. We're halfway through the season now but there's four tracks, four new races and four opportunities to do also.

“Honestly, I'm looking forward them. I'm also looking forward to being on a break right now and learning what we could from the last few weekends and turning things around when we get back to Monza.”

WHAT HAS BEEN THE STRONGEST ASPECT OF YOUR SEASON SO FAR?

“I honestly think my strongest point so far this season has been my starts. They've been a massive turnaround from last year. Always consistently good and that helps a lot, wherever you're starting, to start the race well.”

WHAT HAS BEEN THE WEAKEST ASPECT OF THE SEASON SO FAR?

“I think my weakest point this year has been making a little mistake here and there in Qualifying and not putting my lap quite together. I'm not qualifying as high up as I'd want to do and I think that is affecting the performance and the result of the races.”

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT THIS SEASON?

“It's hard to put one thing that I've learnt because I think we learn so much all the time in a Championship like F2. Maybe the main thing is that it's never over until it's over really, with Safety Cars, VSCs, everything in Formula 2, until the chequered flag drops anything can happen.“

WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON?

“To be honest, I'm just looking forward to being back in the car and I'm pretty confident that I can fight right at the front of the grid, and fight for wins and podiums so honestly, I'm looking forward to Monza. Hopefully, we can get back up there and do what we know we can do.“
