Heading into Monza, Robert Shwartzman was in command of the Drivers’ Championship, but Ilott wasted little time in eating away at his advantage, taking the four points for pole position, to put him within six points of the PREMA Racer.

A sixth-place finish in the Feature Race then levelled him on points with the Russian, ahead of the Sprint Race.

Ilott took P2 on track, before being promoted to first after winner Dan Ticktum was disqualified, as DAMS were unable to provide a sufficient fuel sample from his car. This saw Ilott leapfrog Shwartzman in the standings.

Find out how it all unfolded, as we take an extensive look at the title battle this weekend, from Ilott’s perspective.
