Thoughts from Sargeant, Vesti and Drugovich

FIA Formula 2: Many congratulations to the top three qualifiers for the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race here at Silverstone starting in third place Felipe Drugovich for MP Motorsport, in second place Frederik Vesti for ART Grand Prix, and taking his first pole in the FIA Formula 2 our pole sitter, Logan Sargeant for Carlin. Logan, many congratulations. Just how good does it feel to take this first pole?

Logan Sargeant: Firstly, thank you. I didn't know this track just suits me. Every time I come here, I seem to be quick. The car was absolutely hooked up today, so a big thank you to Carlin. Laid down a heater.

FIA Formula 2: Tell us a little bit more about how good this car is? Because you've been hooked up all day.

Sargeant: I think Free Practice this morning was a really strong start for us. Obviously, the weather was looking a little bit tricky. So I was happy to the weather held out. We did need to make a few tweaks after Free Practice. It wasn't completely in the window, but I'm very happy with where we put the car in Qualifying.

FIA Formula 2: Okay, so Qualifying is done. Let's look ahead to Sunday's race. The goal has to be your first win in FIA Formula 2, but just tell us, what's your strategy for the race? And how much of a factor do you think tyre wear is going to be?

Sargeant: For sure, I think it's going to be long, physical, and the tyres are gonna be hurting as well towards the end of their stints. But for me, the goal is just going to be to get off the line well and have a clean first lap and keep that clean air.

FIA Formula 2: Well, many congratulations. Well done, Logan. Fred, let's come on to you. Great job by you as well. You took your first win in FIA Formula 2 in Baku. Now you're on the front row here at Silverstone. Just how pleased are you to continue that run of form?

Frederik Vesti: Well, it means a lot. It's my best Qualifying result so far this year. To keep that momentum going is really important. I think since Barcelona if we take off Monaco, it's been three really good rounds. I'm working really hard to make it more consistent in Qualifying because starting ahead in the races is just so much easier.

FIA Formula 2: Tell us a little bit about your car. Logan has already said how hooked up the Carlin is around here. How much work have you had to put into your car today?

Vesti: Well, we started the weekend in a good place. In FP we were not very fast, we were P12 I think but the car felt good. We had a purple Sector One and had to improve a bit in Sectors Two and Three. We made a few setup changes, but it wasn't anything crazy and the car was good.

FIA Formula 2: So looking ahead to the race on Sunday. Where do you think, if you are going to get him, you can pass Logan?

Vesti: Well, I think there are many opportunities in the race there is the start, there is the first lap, and there is also a lot with the strategy. We know in F2 everything can happen. If you can have a good pitstop, there are many, many ways. I'm just looking to have a solid baseline tomorrow and then we see for Sunday.

FIA Formula 2: All right. Best of luck with that. Thank you. Felipe, coming on to you. Many congratulations, great job in Qualifying by you as well. Now you made a big jump up the order in your second run. Talk us through what happened between the first run and the second run?

Felipe Drugovich: Thank you very much. To be fair, the car has been pretty fast the whole day. I just didn't really feel comfortable with it. I knew the performance was there, but it was very tricky to drive it since Free Practice. I think that affected a little bit the first run. I didn't put a lap together. That also puts a little bit of pressure on the second run. Luckily I managed to do a good lap, and put in a P3. There's a little bit of a taste that could have could have gotten more out of the car, but still very happy with the result.

FIA Formula 2: Tell us where was the car particularly good today? And where do you think there was a little bit of lap time still to find?

Drugovich: I think Sector 3 we've been quite strong the whole day, but in Sector 1 for some reason, we were nowhere. I tried everything there and didn't seem to be really fast. But anyway, I think is a compromise and we were quite far up ahead.

FIA Formula 2: Now Felipe, your nearest championship rival Théo Pourchaire will be lining up alongside you on the grid. Could get quite tasty perhaps into the first few corners with him. How aggressive do you expect him to be tomorrow?

Drugovich: I don't know. I shouldn't think about this. I'll just focus forward and there are guys in front of me and I should focus on them and try to get them. Obviously, he's going to be also thinking about the Championship. He's got so many points. I think we just need to have a clean race.

FIA Formula 2: All right. Best of luck with that. Thanks to all three of you.
