After such a successful year for Gabriel Bortoleto, there was one final accolade the Brazilian was the recipient of and that was the Anthoine Hubert Award.

Won by the highest-placed rookie in the Drivers’ Championship, the award continues to mean a great deal to the drivers, and the latest recipient said that to be awarded with it was an honour.

“It’s very special,” Bortoleto explained after receiving the award. “I heard a lot about him, about how much of a great guy he was - not just as a driver but as a person. I never met him properly, just once or twice in my life, but I’m hugely appreciative to be awarded this trophy as the rookie of the season. It means a lot to me.”

Bortoleto stepped up from Formula 3 after winning the Drivers’ Championship and after a tricky start to the campaign, quickly recovered to start scoring points regularly.

A maiden victory in the Championship finally arrived in Spielberg as he claimed top honours in the Feature Race, and the points continued to flow afterwards.

The second and final win of his season was the most remarkable however, as he rebounded from a spin in Qualifying to go from P22 and last on the grid to the top step of the podium, becoming the first driver in F2 history to achieve the feat in the Feature.

From there, Bortoleto then took the lead of the Drivers’ Championship in Baku following two more top five finishes and then secured three podiums from four races across the Lusail and Yas Marina rounds to capture the F2 title.

Presented by Formula 2 Director of Operations Marco Codello, Bortoleto is the second F2 Champion to win the award after Oscar Piastri, and joins Ayumu Iwasa, Yuki Tsunoda and Zhou Guanyu as winner of the award.
