Ayumu Iwasa to drive for RB in FP1 at Japanese Grand Prix

RB have confirmed that Ayumu Iwasa will take part in Free Practice 1 ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.
The Japanese driver will take over from Daniel Ricciardo in front of his home crowd for what will be his debut outing on a Grand Prix weekend.
He will take part in the session alongside compatriot and fellow F2 graduate, Yuki Tsunoda.
Iwasa finished last year’s Formula 2 Championship fourth in the Drivers’ Championship with DAMS, taking three race victories across the season and a further two podiums.
Following the end of the campaign, he took part in the post-season F1 test at Yas Marina with AlphaTauri.
In 2024, Iwasa is competing in the Super Formula Championship in Japan. He earned points on debut at Suzuka earlier in March.
