As part of a regular column in the aftermath of each round, one of motorsport’s future stars will take you beyond the paddock and delve into their race weekend. One good point, one bad point and everything in between.

Luca Ghiotto is up next. The Italian takes you behind the scenes of his home event and explains why he enjoyed his Feature Race drive so much. The UNI-Virtuosi driver praises the extra work that his team put in during a wet weekend and looks ahead to Sochi in Round 11.

One Good Point – A bonus Qualifying session

It has to be Race 1. I liked that race a lot and I had so much fun, especially at the end, with the new tyres. It was like having another Qualifying session - a 10 lap Qualifying during the race.

I just gave it everything that I had and pushed myself to the limit. I enjoyed those 10 laps a lot. It was great to get back to the podium in front of my home crowd. I could almost hear the fans screaming every time I was overtaking a car, which was amazing.

One Bad Point – Mistakes made

I made a big mistake in Race 2 and it was only my fault. I never want to make these types of mistakes, but especially not in my home race in front of my home crowd, and during a race where I could have gotten a good result.

You may have missed – Hard work pays off

The work that went on behind the scenes. Especially on Friday with the mixed weather conditions. We had to do so much work in UNI-Virtuosi, especially on the cars and the setup, because we didn’t know what was going to happen with the weather, even on Sunday morning.

This made it a really tough weekend for the team and gave them a lot of work to do - it is something that the fans don't really see, but all of the teams were working really hard on it in the background.

Next time out - Sochi

I am looking forward to Sochi now. It is somewhere I have been two times already, once in GP3 and last year, in F2. It is a place that I always enjoy racing in and I think that it is quite a nice track - I like it.

It is a bit different than normal, but I really enjoy driving there. Russia is quite a nice place as well and it is on the sea, so I am definitely looking forward to that and I am looking forward to having a few good races also.

Arrivederci,

Luca Ghiotto
