After seven long months without a Formula 2 race, Callum Ilott made sure it was worth the wait. The UNI-Virtuosi man surged to his first ever win in F2, but not without plenty of drama beforehand.

He spent much of the race locked in a three-way battle with his teammate Guanyu Zhou and fellow Ferrari junior Mick Schumacher, before the duo dropped out of contention.

Ilott twice exchanged P1 with Zhou, before seeing his UNI-Virtuosi teammate plummet to the back of the grid with mechanical issues.

This left him in a straight battle with Schumacher for first, before the PREMA racer lost the rear at Turn 7 and went skidding off the track. The German just about managed to keep it out of the barriers, but was was out of the points with only 10 laps remaining.

With two of the front three dropping out of contention, this handed podium finishes to Ferrari juniors Marcus Armstrong and Robert Shwartzman on their F2 debuts.
