Interview
MP Motorsport Team Principal Sander Dorsman was full of praise for his entire squad, especially Richard Verschoor, following their Feature Race victory in Spielberg.
Lining up in third, Verschoor was up to second at the start but with Victor Martins pitting a lap earlier, the Dutchman came back out behind his ART Grand Prix rival.

Crucially however, he was able to undercut leader Leonardo Fornaroli, before overtaking Martins for what was effectively P1.
Verschoor was then forced to hold off the charging Alexander Dunne, before winning by 1.1s. Speaking amidst the team celebrations in the garage, Dorsman reflected on a special day for MP.
“It’s been an amazing weekend,” said Dorsman. “Of course, P3 in quali, it was a good quali from Richard, but it was obviously super close in the top three, time-wise. So unfortunately, we just missed out on pole, but this victory compensates a lot.
“It was a fantastic drive from Richard, it was super consistent. Big compliments to the guys also for the car they gave Richard, and they did a great job also with the pit stop and the strategy.
“We just went in front of Fornaroli, so that helped, and just behind Victor. But Richard showed really good pace, first to get past Victor and then to get him out of DRS range.

“After that he managed the race really well and then kept the gap around two seconds to Dunne. For everyone on the pit wall it was long laps, but we'll probably enjoy the race a bit more when we look back on it.”
Verschoor’s win means that he goes to the top of the Drivers’ Standings ahead of Dunne, and with the Rodin rookie’s post-race disqualification, he now has a 24-point lead out in front.
It’s the 23-year-old’s third win of the season and Dorsman says these are the sort of performances MP had hoped for when they signed Verschoor for 2025.
“This is exactly what we hoped for,” said Dorsman on Verschoor’s 2025 season. “But in F2 especially, it's very difficult to predict what you can do. We are only halfway through the season so it's a long way to go.
“But this is why we are keen to have him back with us. We have won Championships before, but we would like to obviously win this one as well. Still a long way to go and we still have to work very hard to see what we can do.”

Looking ahead to Round 8 at Silverstone, MP and Verschoor are returning to a track where they previously won together back in 2021. Dorsman is excited by the upcoming trip to the British venue.
“We like the track, Richard likes the track, so let’s see,” said Dorsman. “The racing there is normally not boring, so let’s hope for the best. Would be nice to repeat this one but guess we have to work a bit harder for that.”
