The second half of the season is about to start with Round 8 of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 campaign taking the paddock to the high-speed Silverstone circuit.
There are so many storylines to look out for this weekend, but we have picked out a few that might catch your attention.
Richard Verschoor and MP Motorsport make the trip over to the UK feeling very happy about life, given their Feature Race win in Spielberg.
PREVIEW: The second half of 2025 starts at Silverstone for Round 8
The Dutchman, now on 114 points, currently sits at the top of the Drivers’ Championship by 24 points, and with three wins to his name this season.
MP, on the other hand, are second in the Teams’ Standings with 126 points, chasing down leaders Campos Racing, who are on 146.
It’s a track where the pair have achieved success before, as their only F2 victory together, prior to this season, came at the British venue back in 2021.
They will be hopeful of recapturing that magic again this weekend as it will be the perfect way to kick off the second half of the season.
A win in the Feature Race at Silverstone would also give Verschoor a sizeable lead in the Championship, leaving all his rivals playing catchup for the rounds to come.
It is set to be another special home race weekend for Arvid Lindblad, who will get his first run out in Formula 1 for Red Bull Racing, driving Yuki Tsunoda’s RB21 in Free Practice one.
Chasing the Dream, Season 7 Episode 7 – Out Today
This achievement comes a year on from the 17-year-old making history at Silverstone, when he became the only driver ever to win all races on a single weekend in Formula 3.
Lindblad would no doubt love a repeat of that this weekend after a tough outing in Spielberg, where he did not score a point. A return to the top 10, where he had finished in every race till Austria, will be exactly what he is after.
Following a difficult Round 7, the Campos Racing driver is now down to sixth in the Championship with 79 points, trailing Verschoor by 25, and he will want to close that gap.
Either way, it is set to be a big weekend for Lindblad, who will again make his own piece of history on home soil.
There are a couple of other drivers who are eager for some sort of redemption at Silverstone, one being Jak Crawford.
The DAMS Lucas Oil driver finished first on the road in last year’s Feature Race, but after a five-second time penalty for an unsafe release in the pit lane was applied, Crawford dropped to third in the final classification.
As a result, both team and driver will be looking to claim the win they missed out on last year, and given their strong race pace in the recent rounds, they will feel confident of doing so.

Another driver and team pairing hoping for redemption is Luke Browning and Hitech TGR.
The Briton qualified fastest in last year’s Formula 3 qualifying, and had been running in the lead of the Feature Race until rain hit the track. Browning was on slick tyres and fell through the field to finish eighth.
Speaking after Spielberg last weekend, Browning said: “We’re going to go into Silverstone and aiming to stick it on pole. Ready to bounce back. It’s escaped us a few times.
“We’ve always been the fastest at Silverstone, yet it’s not awarded us with points. This year, we’re going to be the fastest and win the race, we’ll try our best to anyway.”
As always at Silverstone, the weather is an extra factor that needs to be looked out for, and currently the forecast says there is a chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday.
Putting it all together on Sunday: Jak Crawford’s Spielberg Debrief
Now, it is possible that both races could be dry, but we have all seen how quickly the weather can change in Northamptonshire, so even during the races, the teams will be looking at the radar.
Last year’s Formula 3 Feature Race is the perfect example of this, as it rained and stopped several times, and the track dried out quickly, so making the right decision will be critical.
On top of that, it is possible that the entirety of the races could be wet, which will test the resolve of all 22 drivers.
Whichever driver can adapt to the conditions best, and make the least number of mistakes, could be the one that comes out on top in wet conditions.
