We dive into the paddocks to take a look at the essential items for our drivers on a race weekend. From iPads and AirPods to helmets and hats and much more, we find out what they can’t travel without.

Jack Aitken is up next…

Snacks

I carry a lot of food with me because I get hungry quite a lot, and I need to keep eating to keep getting those gains, you know laughs?

Graze, protein bars, multi-vitamins, just in case I get hungry because when you are travelling you can get caught out quite a lot, without any food and that isn't great.

Reading material

This particular book is by Tia-Clair Toomey, who was the CrossFit World Champion and the fittest woman on earth. It was given to me by my girlfriend Alex. I find CrossFit impressive because they can do so many different things - hopefully I can pick up a few training tips.

I try and always have at least one book with me. I read car magazines quite a lot as well, bike magazines too, because I am a car and bike nerd. Books are always good for the soul, aren't they?

Sunglasses

These are from a combination of my brother and the guy who helps me with my social media. They wanted me to wear them around the paddock, but that was a step too far for me. They are staying in the bag for now... Maybe on a big day.

Fairly standard and I obviously use it for work at times during the weekend. Looking through pre-event notes that I might have made for a race, looking at any video that I might have from previous years and previous races. Other than that, Netflix and chilling out on the internet - just general downtime really.

If you don’t already have previous race footage, it will quite often be on YouTube. There is also F1TV now as well, which is quite handy if you have an account.

Lucky Mascot

He came as part of a lolly treat - as the Australian’s call them. It is from when I was with my girlfriend in Australia. My bag is half-full of lucky mascots and little trinkets, just because I end up collecting them and you obviously can't get rid of them. They end up with their own little space in my bag. Sometimes I will take them out on the weekend, I had a Lego astronaut in Budapest I think - maybe Silverstone. He was in my helmet stand. Little stuff like that is quite fun to have around.
