Martinius Stenshorne is revelling in his maiden FIA Formula 2 victory in Montreal and has praised his Rodin Motorsport team for their performances so far in 2026.

The Norwegian driver has shown great form so far this season, but various incidents meant he went to Canada with just four points from two rounds.

However, he took his first F2 podium in the Sprint Race finishing third, before making a charge for victory in Sunday’s event – leading teammate Alexander Dunne across the line.

Speaking at the end of the weekend, Stenshorne heaped praise on Rodin for their start to the year, as they finally got the result he believes they had deserved.

“Obviously, it feels very good this weekend to finally have a clean Feature Race,” said Stenshorne. “I think we had good pace in the other two previous rounds as well.

“But there were just some things that I couldn't do much about. The team has done an amazing job so far this year, they have given me a great car. We just had a clean weekend and came out on top.

“We've been quick so far this year. I think both Alex and I, so far this year, we've been the quickest to be honest, and I hope it stays that way.

“The car has been really good so far, both in Practice, Qualifying and all the races, we've been up there. A big shout out to the team for giving me a car that's capable of that, because it's for sure very enjoyable to drive and I'm enjoying it a lot.”

Stenshorne’s decisive moment came at the second Safety Car restart, when he made a move past Nikola Tsolov for what was the effective race lead.

The Rodin rookie then overtook the yet-to-pit cars and then pulled a gap of over two seconds to Dino Beganovic. That was before his DAMS Lucas Oil rival stopped on track with an issue, bringing out another Safety Car.

At that restart, he led away teammate Dunne and MP Motorsport’s Gabriele Minì, before sealing victory.

“The move was good, I was happy that I got him there,” said Stenshorne. “It's always a bit tricky when you're catching traffic with people on a bit worse tyres, you have to do the right things.

“But we came out good today, overtaking him there and then getting the others quite quickly as well. We came through quite fast which helped me make a gap to Beganovic.

“Of course then he had an issue but I had quite a big gap, so I was a bit disappointed that the Safety Car came out.

“But we had a good restart after that and then we had good pace for the next two laps. So I can't thank the team enough for the whole job they've done.”

Next up for Stenshorne and Rodin is a trip to Monte Carlo where they had good form in 2025, with Dunne taking pole.

Round 4 in the Principality kicks off the European leg of the calendar and is also the first of two back-to-back race weekends with Barcelona to follow.

“It's going to be nice to go back to Europe, obviously knowing all the tracks as well,” said Stenshorne. “Even though the tracks have been new, the car has been quite dialled in already from Practice, so the team has done a good job on that.

“But coming back now to Europe, I think everyone knows the tracks now more or less. It's just going to be interesting, but I hope we have as good a pace as we do now.

“Obviously, the team did well in Monaco last year, they were very fast, so I hope we can give them another good result there and we can keep going as we are the rest of the season.”
